REVIEW: An exclusive insight into New York City's, Equinox Hotel

Everything is bigger in the United States: the portion sizes, the homes, the rides and the personalities. Luxury is no exception. The recently-minted Equinox Hotel, in New York’s newest neighbourhood, Hudson Yards raises the bar of luxury to heights that have barely been scraped by other hotels.

Stepping foot into the 212-room, 48-suite hotel, it’s clear that wellness permeates every corner. There are Granny Smith apples in the lobby – a fitting snack for New York City – to satiate you while you wait for the elevator to your room, which provides sweeping skyline views through the floor-to-ceiling windows. The room feels like home, yet a home not many get to experience. There is a plush king-sized bed, natural amenities from Australian brand Grown Alchemist, a foam roller, a tablet that acts as your technological butler where anything you need is at your fingertips, and drawers filled with premium wellness gadgets and products including Function Botanicals CBD Oil; Fleur Marche wellness patches, Inactivators Performance Sleep Mask to optimise sleep, or, should you wish to conform to the notion of staying awake in ‘the city that never sleeps’, there is a Lover’s Kit with Province Apothecary lubricants.

It's the small details that matter the most at Equinox Hotel. There is a switch in the bathroom to control the privacy of your shower, from transparent – allowing you to soak up the city views... there’s even a step to sit on inside the shower to do so – or you can switch to frosted glass for a little privacy while you stand under the rainfall shower-head or the handheld head.

Chris Norton, CEO of Equinox Hotels describes the hotel as perfect for those living a ‘high-performance lifestyle’ and the abundance of world-leading spa and wellness offerings is testimony to this. Within the room, there are complimentary A.M and P.M rituals that guests are encouraged to utilise upon waking and before hitting the ‘DARK. QUIET. COOL' setting on the tablet that transforms the room into an optimal sleep haven.

Outside of the room, guests have access to the world-renowned gym, overlooking the Hudson River. Inside the 5570-square-metre centre, guests can experience the hot and cold plunge pool, a lap pool, saunas, steam rooms, ice baths and Kiehl's products to use afterwards in the showers.

Living a high-performance lifestyle includes rest and rejuvenation. The Spa ticks all the boxes of a five-star pampering experience, while delivering world-leading services that constantly evolve, whether that’s a vitamin-infused IV drip, techno therapy treatment, a sound bath meditation or a signature facial or massage.

Fuel up after a workout or a day exploring, at the hotel’s eclectic and vivacious restaurant, Electric Lemon. The vaulted ceilings and expansive windows provide sweeping views of luscious Hudson Yards, while the menu celebrates the farmers, growers and artisans of the Mid-Atlantic, transforming the humble, local ingredients into somewhat experimental –and highly delightful – Modern American cuisine. The cocktails will also have you hooked.
